Sundar Pichai : A Revolution in Google

Sundar Pichai, the son of an Electrical Engineer at General Electric who would grow up to become the CEO of Google, has certainly lived the life on which these stories are based.
Sundar Pichai Childhood Memories
Sundar Pichai began his life as Pichai Sundararajan on July 12th, 1972. Born in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India, Pichai spent his early years in the city of Ashok Nagar growing up in a two room apartment with his mother, a stenographer until having children, his father, and later, his younger brother. Unlike many children Sundar never experienced certain luxuries such as watching television or riding in a family car and didn’t have his first real taste of modern technology until the age of 12 when his father bought a landline phone for their home. It was using that landline phone however that Sundar would first begin to recognize his extraordinary ability for memorizing of numbers.
Sundar Pichai Academic Career
Sundar would soon put this ability to work in his academic career. Pichai completed class X at Jawahar Vidyalaya in Ashok Nagar as well as Class XII form Vana Vani School in Chennai before graduating from IIT Kharagpur with his degree in Metallurgical Engineering. IIT Kharagpur would also be where Pichai would meet his future wife and fellow classmate Anjali Pichai, who are now raising two beautiful children together. After completing his degree at IIT Kharagpur, Pichai was awarded a scholarship to study at the reknowned Stanford University where he would go on to Masters of Science in material science and engineering. In addition, he has also gained his MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania where Pichai was prestigiously named a Siebel Scholar as well as a Palmer Scholar.

In 2004 Sundar would begin his career with Google working with small teams on many different high profile projects such as the Google search bar, Google Gears, and Google Pack. His work on these projects would inspire Pichai to pursue development of a browser for Google which would lead to Sundar playing a pivotal role the 2008 launch of the Google Chrome browser. 2013 would see Sundar step into another important job at Google becoming the overseer of all Android Projects when former manager Andy Rubin left the company after almost a decade. However, after putting all of these fundamental parts in place within the company, Pichai’s influence on Google would not stop there.
In August of 2015 Sundar Pichai was revealed to be taking the reigns as CEO of Google. The announcement was made by the then current CEO himself, Larry Page, who was stepping down to run Alphabet, Inc., Google’s new holding company. Sundar would become CEO within only months of being named product chief of the company. Earning over 1.5 million in 2015 alone as well as garnering a net worth of $650 million in his career, Pichai is has become the epitome of a 21st century rags to riches story. The success story of Sundar Pichai should show us that no matter our circumstances or the lives we were born into our dreams are only as far away as we believe them to be.
